On the Road

After numerous delays, we departed for our trip to Overland Expo West in Mormon Lake, AZ. We left home around noon. After about 100 miles, the Fuso engine light came on. We stopped along the side of the highway.

Jon’s normal code reader decided that it didn’t want to work. So out came the computer. Jon determined that the EGR valve was the problem. It was good to know what the problem was, but we didn’t have a spare one.

Jon spent a couple of hours making it work. This required an amazing amount of equipment. He used a drill, clamp, skewer, multimeter, hot glue gun,  and of course, a hammer.

After fixing the problem, Jon put it all back together again and we got back underway.

So far, it continues to do ok. We stopped in Sevierville for the night. It was about 10:00. We planned to stay the night in the parking lot of a Cracker Barrel. We made it in time to ask for permission. Due to the late hour, dinner was from Wendy’s. The dining room was closed, but the drive through line was problematic due to clearance. We are much taller than your average car. Fortunately they were able to take our order curbside once the cars had gone through.

It rained hard overnight. No leaks.

Breakfast was at Cracker Barrel. Now we are back on the road.
